About Kicking Out Transphobia

Kicking Out Transphobia (KOT) began in Philadelphia in 2020 as a single charity soccer tournament and has since grown into a multi-city, international nonprofit creating safe, inclusive, and celebratory spaces for transgender and gender-nonconforming athletes.

Kicking Out Transphobia Community Project is a community-led 501(c)(3) public charity under Section 509(a)(2) with EIN 39-4104780 centering transgender and gender-nonconforming people. We use sports as a tool for joy, connection, visibility, and resistance—creating spaces that uplift trans and nonbinary people while raising awareness of the barriers and challenges our communities face.

Through grassroots sporting events, educational initiatives, and international partnerships, we demonstrate that trans people belong in every field—especially the sports field.

We are proud to have:

  • Hosted events in 10+ cities across the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines

  • Engaged 5,000+ athletes and allies

  • Raised $50,000+ for trans-led nonprofits and community organizations

  • Supported organizations including Morris Home, GALAEI, Attic Youth Center, Trans Lifeline, Ark of Safety, and Rainbow Room

  • Created the first-ever International All-Trans Match in Las Vegas in 2023

  • Created the first all-trans soccer team to compete in an international tournament, with the team continuing to participate in tournaments across the United States

Every KOT event is about more than competition. It is about community, resistance, visibility, and celebration—creating spaces where transgender, nonbinary, and queer people can participate in sports as their full selves.

Trans people belong in sports. Trans rights are human rights.

About The Philadelphia Event.

The 7th. annual edition of the Kicking Out Transphobia Tournament will take place November 13-22, 2026, during Trans Awareness Week with different social, sporting and community events.

Since our last KOT Tournament, our community has continued to turn solidarity into action.

💜 We raised $4,461 to support Philadelphia’s trans communities through organizations including Rainbow Room, Ark of Safety, and Morris Home.

🌈 We have donated more than $7,000 to organizations including Morris Home, Rainbow Room, Southern Trans Youth  Emergency Fund, SMYAL, Rainbow Railroad, and the Transgender Education Network of Texas.

🌎 We hosted 10+ events across the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines, bringing people together.

⚽ We supported Team TransTastic in participating in three tournaments across the United States, creating opportunities for trans athletes to compete, connect, and represent their community.

WHY SPONSOR US

TRANS ATHLETES IN 2026

The landscape for trans athletes in the U.S. continues to shift rapidly:

FEDERAL & ATHLETIC POLICY CHANGES

  • In February 2025, Executive Order 14201 directed federal agencies to enforce a sex-based approach to women’s sports.

  • The NCAA subsequently adopted a policy restricting women’s competition to athletes assigned female at birth.

  • In June 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld state laws in West Virginia and Idaho restricting transgender girls from competing on girls’ school sports teams. The ruling intensified an already growing patchwork of state restrictions, while leaving broader questions about transgender athletes and Title IX unresolved

HIGH-PROFILE INCIDENTS

  • WNBA players have become part of the national debate over transgender athletes. Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham publicly spoke about transgender participation in women’s sports in 2026, sparking protests and widespread discussion about inclusion and fairness in women’s athletics.

REPRESENTATION

  • Trans athletes remain a small and often underrepresented population in organized sports. Yet for many trans youth and adults, the opportunity to play is about more than competition—it is about belonging, community, and being able to participate without discrimination.
