The nation’s capital will host the Kicking Out Transphobia (KOT) Tournament, a one-of-a-kind event that uses the power of soccer to promote inclusion, visibility, and solidarity for transgender and gender-nonconforming communities.

Founded in Philadelphia in 2020, KOT has grown into a national movement with tournaments in cities across the United States and Mexico. This October, Federal Triangles Soccer Club (FTSC) will bring the initiative to Washington, DC, for the first time.
The tournament is more than just a day of soccer. It’s a fundraiser for two impactful nonprofits:
• SMYAL, which supports and empowers queer and trans youth in the DC area.
• Rainbow Railroad, an international organization helping LGBTQIA+ people escape persecution and find safety.
Players will register as individuals and be placed on teams for fast-paced, 20-minute matches, guaranteeing each participant at least three games. Registration is $25, or $40 with a custom pair of KOT socks, with 100% of net proceeds supporting SMYAL and Rainbow Railroad. One of the day’s highlights will be the return of ExDRAGaganza, the annual drag soccer showcase where drag performers trade in high heels for cleats. More than just entertainment, the match underscores the role of drag artists as cultural leaders, activists, and storytellers, bringing joy, resilience, and unapologetic queerness to the field. In addition, attendees can participate in raffles to win exciting prizes, making the day both a competition and a celebration.
The Kicking Out Transphobia DC Tournament will take place on October 12, 2025, 10:00AM with the venue to be announced soon.
ExDRAGaganza Returns!
Drag performers are more than entertainers—they are storytellers, activists, and cultural leaders who remind us to live boldly and authentically. At ExDRAGaganza, we celebrate drag’s artistry by bringing queens, kings, and royalty onto the soccer field for a joyful, campy, and unapologetically queer match. It’s not just a game—it’s a show of resilience, creativity, and the magic that drag brings to our community.
